Winter Training January 7 2012

The forecast for the first sail of 2012 looked like an opportunity to get out on the number 2 rig, but on arrival to Calshot the wind was still very much in number 1 territory. The breeze appeared to be coming in on each cloud, and during rigging the wind was up in the high teens and as low as 5 knots at times. After launching we headed straight to Stokes Bay SC to find some mothie friends. With the Solent chop causing numerous wave jumping opportunities, the top speed of the run was just over 17 knots. Heading back the wind increased gusting up to 19 knots at times and dying at the end as we were coming in, making for easy recovery.

Winter Training December 11 2011

With the short days, and wind forecast looking best earlier on in the day, after getting up at 6 30am,  we met at Calshot at 10am to meet 3 degree air and 10 degree sea temperatures, and a steady 8-12 knots breeze, great for the number 1, launching from the south slipway, with only a couple of Cats from the cat sailing club joining us on a rather pleasantly sunny day on the Solent. Here is the GPS track of the day, starting at 12:15
