Winter Training January 7 2012

The forecast for the first sail of 2012 looked like an opportunity to get out on the number 2 rig, but on arrival to Calshot the wind was still very much in number 1 territory. The breeze appeared to be coming in on each cloud, and during rigging the wind was up in the high teens and as low as 5 knots at times. After launching we headed straight to Stokes Bay SC to find some mothie friends. With the Solent chop causing numerous wave jumping opportunities, the top speed of the run was just over 17 knots. Heading back the wind increased gusting up to 19 knots at times and dying at the end as we were coming in, making for easy recovery.
